Expertise templates

A template is a ready-made assistant persona for a specific use case: the right tone, rules and job description come pre-written. Instead of writing a system prompt from scratch, you pick a template that fits your plan, fill in a few fields and apply it in one click — your assistant works in that industry immediately.

What a template is, and is not

A template is a system prompt that writes your widget's personality and rules — it lives in the Template Store (/settings/templates). It decides how the widget talks and what it will or will not do; it does not touch your knowledge base. You feed content from the Knowledge Base; the template says in which voice that content gets explained.

Ready-made personas

The Template Store lists the assistant personas available on your plan. Currently offered:

Premium personas carry extra-careful rules written for sensitive domains (legal, health, finance). When your plan qualifies, they apply in one click just like the others.

How to apply a persona

  1. Open Settings → Template Store. Only personas available on your plan appear enabled.
  2. On a persona's card, press Apply.
  3. If the persona asks for variables, fill them in — typically fields like company name, website, working hours. If a required field is empty, applying stops with "Required field missing".
  4. When you apply, the persona's system prompt is written into your widget; the assistant starts replying with that personality right away.

After applying you can edit the variables any time, or disable the persona with an on/off toggle. The use case you pick during setup can auto-suggest and assign a fitting persona.

Language: if your account's language is English, the persona is applied with its English text; the assistant still answers in the language the customer writes in. A persona applied earlier doesn't change by itself: apply it again to get the English text (the system instructions are rewritten with the persona's text).

A persona is a starting point — you can layer your own rules on top. Fine-tune the assistant's behavior from the system prompt in Admin panel settings.

E-commerce Assistant and your store connection

The E-commerce Assistant persona is built for online stores: product info, order tracking, customer questions. When your store is connected, the assistant uses live product, inventory and order data.

Applying the template does not connect a store, and it asks for no store address or API key. You connect the store under Settings → E-Commerce: on Shopify by installing the SemAgent app from the Shopify App Store, on WooCommerce with a Consumer Key/Secret. Steps: Shopify & e-commerce.

When you connect your Shopify store and your account has no system instructions and no persona yet, the E-commerce Assistant persona is applied automatically in your account's language (if your plan allows it). Instructions you wrote or a persona you picked are never touched.

Plan-based access

Each persona defines which plans can reach it (the "Plans" column above). The rules:

  • If your plan isn't listed, the persona is locked — trying to apply it shows a notice naming the required plans.
  • When you downgrade, personas you can no longer access are automatically deactivated (not deleted; they return when you upgrade).

The full plan logic: Plans & plan-gating.
