Discount codes

Admin Panel → Discount codes shows the code discounts in your Shopify store, live. Here you create a code, deactivate one, and choose which code the assistant may give a customer and under which conditions. The AI never creates a code or picks a rate.

Discount codes, with example data. Each row is a code in the store: its status, value, conditions, last day and how often it was used. The first two codes are ones the assistant may give; their conditions sit below them. 3AL2ODE, whose value cannot be read here, is listed but the assistant cannot give it.

The list comes live from your store

This screen keeps no copy of its own. Codes are read from Shopify each time it opens; value, period and usage count are what the store says. A code you deactivate in the store, or one that expires, shows that way here too. Each row shows:

  • Code and status: Valid, Not started yet, Expired, Used up or Stopped.
  • Value and conditions: percentage, fixed amount or free shipping; minimum cart, selected products only, once per customer.
  • Last day and usage: how often it was used and its limit. If the assistant gave the code, how many people it gave it to.

“Buy X get Y” discounts and discounts created by an app appear in the list, but because we cannot read their value the assistant cannot give them: we do not let it describe a code whose benefit it cannot state.

Codes the assistant may give

Turn on Assistant may give next to a code, choose its conditions and press Save. When a customer asks about a discount, campaign, coupon or code, the assistant gives a suitable one and states its value, last day and conditions as read from the store. Up to 20 codes can be marked.

ConditionWhat it does
Only to verified customersThe code is given only to customers whose identity is verified or whom your team linked. For a temporary visitor it never enters the instructions. Details: Customers.
Once per personAfter giving the code to a person, the assistant does not give it to them again — even on another channel, if their identity is the same. To do this, which code was given to whom is recorded (without message text); the record is deleted together with the person.
WhenAlways, or during a campaign. A code tied to a campaign is given while that campaign is live.

The system enforces the conditions; they are not left to the AI. For someone who does not meet them, the code never enters the assistant's instructions. Neither does a code that is no longer valid in the store.

⚠️

The AI never creates discounts. The assistant cannot create a code, pick a rate, or promise a code that is not on the list or a higher rate; if pressed, it hands over to your team. It also never works out a discounted price and writes “X instead of Y”: the code is applied at checkout.

Creating a code

Press Create code to open the form. The code is created in your Shopify store and is valid right away.

The new code form: code, discount type, rate, last day, usage limit, minimum cart and once per customer The new code form: code, discount type, rate, last day, usage limit, minimum cart and once per customer
New code. The suggested code uses hard-to-guess characters; New suggestion makes another. The last day and the usage limit are required.
  • Discount type and value: a percentage (up to 90%) or a fixed amount in the store's currency.
  • Last day (required): the code ends at the end of that day, Türkiye time. At most one year ahead.
  • Total usage limit (required): the code can be used in at most this many orders.
  • Minimum cart amount and once per customer (on by default).

A code created here does not combine with other discounts. That is why the end date and usage limit are required: unlimited codes with no end date leak to coupon sites.

Store permission

Seeing codes and letting the assistant give them only needs the store's read_discounts permission. Creating and deactivating codes also needs write_discounts. Without it, the page explains how to grant it instead of showing the form: add write_discounts to the Admin API scopes of the app you created for SemAgent in Shopify, save, then refresh the page.

Deactivating a code

Deactivate makes the code unusable in the store, and the assistant stops giving it. Nothing is deleted: past uses and orders stay in the store. Every creation, deactivation and sharing change is written to the Audit Log.

The legal responsibility is yours

Discount announcements must follow your local price rules (in Türkiye, the price before a discount must be the lowest of the last 10 days), and a code sent in a campaign message is a commercial electronic message that needs the recipient's prior consent. As the store owner these duties are yours: Terms of Service §8.

Not available yet

  • Discount code management currently works with Shopify stores only.
  • A separate single-use code per campaign recipient is not available yet: WhatsApp templates with a code are marketing templates, and the panel currently sends only utility templates.
  • The usage count is Shopify's own; which code was used in which order is not kept in the order archive yet.
